The world is witnessing a strange convergence. On one side, political power is restructuring science and knowledge institutions. On another side, religious powers are calling for unity between faith and science in the search for “objective truth.” To many students of prophecy, these developments raise solemn questions.
The recent reports from Vatican-related media declaring that the church embraces science to “find God in creation,” alongside reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration reshaped and purged independent scientific structures, present a remarkable prophetic parallel.
Ancient Egypt had magicians. Babylon had astrologers, sorcerers, and wise men. Yet amid those systems, God raised Daniel — a prophet who stood apart from political corruption and religious compromise.
The question now being whispered among prophetic observers is this: Has modern political power found its own “Daniel,” not to reveal God’s truth, but to guide a global system toward technocratic and religious unity?
Egypt, Babylon, and the Last-Day Crisis
In Scripture, Egypt symbolized rebellion against God.
“Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice?” — Exodus 5:2
Egypt possessed wisdom, science, magic arts, medicine, astronomy, and priestcraft. Yet its wisdom opposed the Creator. The magicians of Pharaoh could imitate miracles for a time, but they could not stop God’s judgments.
Babylon likewise united religion, politics, economics, and intellectual elites. In Babylon, the king demanded worship, enforced unity, and depended upon counselors, astrologers, and magicians.
The prophet Daniel stood in sharp contrast.
Daniel Versus Babylon’s Wise Men
Daniel 2 reveals a deep prophetic principle:
“There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets.” — Daniel 2:28
Babylon’s intellectual class failed where divine truth prevailed.
Today many fear the rise of another system where governments, corporate technocrats, artificial intelligence experts, and religious leaders merge influence in the name of order, unity, climate stability, health security, and global peace.
The Scientific American report described concern among scientists after the dismissal of the National Science Board and increasing political control over scientific institutions. At the same time, Vatican statements speak of faith and science walking together toward “truth.”
Individually, these stories may appear unrelated. Prophetically, many see two powers moving toward cooperation.
First Beast and Second Beast Moving Toward Unison
Revelation 13 Warning
Revelation 13:11−17
The book of Revelation describes two beasts:
- The first beast receives worldwide admiration and religious authority.
- The second beast appears lamb-like yet eventually speaks “as a dragon.”
Many historic Adventist pioneers identified:
- The first beast with the Papal system.
- The second beast with the United States power arising later in prophecy.
Though historically separated politically and doctrinally, prophecy foretold cooperation.
Ellen G. White wrote in The Great Controversy:
“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power… our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government.” — The Great Controversy, p. 588
I with Many Adventist interpreters see modern ecumenical movements, scientific partnerships, and global moral initiatives as groundwork for this prophetic union.
Science as Blessing or Instrument?
Science itself is not evil.
True science reveals order in creation.
The heavens declare God’s glory.
The problem comes when science becomes detached from divine morality or merged with coercive political systems.
In Egypt:
- Knowledge served empire.
In Babylon:
- Wisdom served worship enforcement.
In the last days:
- Technology may serve surveillance, control, economic restriction, and ideological conformity.
Revelation warns:
“That no man might buy or sell…” — Revelation 13:17
Modern systems involving AI, biometric systems, digital currencies, and centralized governance increasingly alarm prophetic observers who see preparations for future enforcement powers.
Trump, Technocrats, and the Search for “Wise Men”
The article notes the rise of industry leaders and nontraditional scientific authorities into government influence structures.
Some analysts compare this to Nebuchadnezzar surrounding himself with elite counselors and interpreters.
But Daniel differed from Babylon’s experts because:
- Daniel feared God.
- Daniel upheld truth above empire.
- Daniel refused defilement.
- Daniel warned kings instead of flattering them.
A true Daniel calls nations to repentance — not merely efficiency, technological supremacy, or centralized control.
Thus the prophetic concern is not whether Trump literally found a Daniel, but whether modern governments are assembling new classes of “wise men” to guide civilization into a unified global order lacking spiritual discernment.
Vatican Observatory and the Language of Unity
The Vatican’s language about science and religion embracing one another appears peaceful and intellectually noble.
Yet Adventist prophecy students remember another warning from Scripture:
“And all the world wondered after the beast.” — Revelation 13:3
Ellen White warned that miracles, intellectual sophistication, and appeals to unity would characterize end-time deception.
“Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions.” — The Great Controversy, p. 588
Thus we Adventists fear that:
- Climate crises,
- Health emergencies,
- Economic instability,
- Social unrest,
- and calls for moral unity
could eventually be used to justify enforced worship legislation, including Sunday observance.
Sunday Law and the Time of Trouble
The approaching crisis, according to our Adventist eschatology, centers not merely on politics but worship.
The Sabbath becomes the dividing line between:
- allegiance to the Creator,
- and allegiance to human authority.
Revelation 14 declares:
“Fear God, and give glory to him… and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea.” — Revelation 14:7
This is Creation language.
Ironically, while the world increasingly discusses creation through science, prophecy says the final conflict centers on worshiping the Creator according to His commandments.
Compare and Contrast: Daniel Versus the Final Generation

Meanwhile Babylon:
- united religion and state,
- exalted human authority,
- enforced worship,
- and persecuted dissenters.
Prophecy warns these characteristics will return globally.
The Egyptian Plagues and Final Judgments
Just as Egypt received plagues after rejecting God’s warnings, Revelation describes seven last plagues falling upon an unrepentant world.
Revelation 16:1−21
Pharaoh hardened his heart despite overwhelming evidence.
The final generation may repeat that pattern through:
- technological pride,
- political absolutism,
- spiritualism,
- false miracles,
- and enforced religious unity.
Yet God still calls people out of Babylon:
“Come out of her, my people.” — Revelation 18:4

Final Appeal
This is not a call to fear science, education, or governments. It is a call to discernment.
Daniel served faithfully in government without surrendering truth.
The issue in prophecy is worship, allegiance, and obedience.
As the world moves toward increasing cooperation between political powers, religious systems, scientific elites, and economic structures, believers are urged to study Scripture carefully and seek the Spirit of God.
The final crisis will not merely concern technology or politics.
It will concern:
- truth versus deception,
- commandments of God versus traditions of men,
- and the seal of God versus the mark of the beast.
“To the law and to the testimony.” — Isaiah 8:20
