“WHERE IS ELIJAH?”
Gaza was a desert road.
Scripture says:
“Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.”
— Acts 8:26
Desert means thirst.
A dry land.
A place of spiritual famine.
A place where truth is scarce and souls are searching.
It was there that Philip the Evangelist met the Ethiopian eunuch and preached Christ.
But Gaza was also where Samson went down to the harlot.
“Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot…”
— Judges 16:1
There he lost spiritual discernment.
There compromise led to blindness.
There the enemy put out his eyes.
Two Gazas.
One leads to conversion.
One leads to captivity.
The whole world stands between these two roads.
JEZEBEL, THE WHORE, AND REVELATION 17
Jezebel was not merely a woman.
She represented union of false religion and political power.
She controlled kings.
She persecuted prophets.
She fed false prophets.
She sought the death of Elijah.
Revelation 17 repeats the same picture:
“And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast…”
— Revelation 17:3
“The waters… are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.”
— Revelation 17:15
The woman is apostate religion.
The beast is political power.
This is religion riding government.
This was papal supremacy.
This was the Dark Ages.
This was the Inquisition.
This was the Crusades.
And prophecy says it rises again.
The Great Controversy warns that Protestant America will form an image to the beast when church and state unite for enforced worship.
A PROTESTANT NATION COMPROMISING
America was raised as a lamb-like nation.
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb…”
— Revelation 13:11
Civil liberty.
Religious liberty.
Protestant principles.
But prophecy continues:
“…and he spake as a dragon.”
The lamb becomes dragon-like when Protestantism compromises truth for power.
When conscience is surrendered for control.
When religion seeks legislation.
When morality is enforced by civil authority.
When kings and religious systems unite again.
This is the warning hour.
WHERE IS ELIJAH?
Elijah fled to the wilderness.
He hid in the cave.
“And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there…”
— 1 Kings 19:9
Why?
Because Jezebel ruled.
False religion had state backing.
Truth became dangerous.
Prophets were hunted.
The faithful became fugitives.
The question today is the same:
Where is Elijah?
Hidden.
Scattered.
Often misunderstood.
Labeled extreme.
Called divisive.
Branded dangerous.
Yet Heaven still asks:
“What doest thou here, Elijah?”
God still has a remnant.
They are not in Babylon.
They are not dining at Jezebel’s table.
They are not bowing to Baal.
They are standing for truth.
GAZA TODAY: A DESERT OF HUMANITY
Reuters reports that Israel intercepted aid ships headed for Gaza in international waters near Greece. Organizers called it unlawful seizure and “piracy,” while Israeli officials said the flotilla was stopped before reaching their operational area.
The humanitarian crisis exposes something deeper:
a world trying to solve spiritual rebellion with political force.
Blockades.
Wars.
Nationalism.
Religious claims.
International accusations.
Yet no earthly system can heal what sin has destroyed.
Without Christ, every promised peace becomes temporary.
Without repentance, diplomacy becomes delay.
Without righteousness, power becomes oppression.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
PHILIP IN GAZA
- Preached Christ
- Opened prophecy
- Brought spiritual sight
- Salvation through truth
SAMSON IN GAZA
- Followed the harlot
- Lost discernment
- Eyes put out
- Bondage through compromise
ELIJAH IN THE CAVE
- Faithful remnant
- Hidden but not defeated
- Opposed Jezebel
- Waiting for God’s voice
JEZEBEL ON THE THRONE
- False worship
- Political religion
- Persecution of truth
- Control through fear
MODERN PROPHETIC PARALLEL
- Apostate religion seeks state power
- Protestantism compromises principle
- Conscience becomes criminalized
- Final crisis approaches
COMING EVENTS CAST THEIR SHADOW
The Desire of Ages says:
“Coming events cast their shadow before.”
We now see:
- kings honored as moral voices
- religion shaping civil law
- humanitarian actions politicized
- national identity replacing repentance
- global tensions intensifying
- the image of the beast forming
These are shadows.
The storm follows.
FINAL PROPHETIC CALL
THE FINAL QUESTION: WILL YOU FOLLOW PHILIP OR SAMSON?
The world is entering Gaza again.
One road leads to Christ.
One road leads to compromise.
One leads to spiritual sight.
One leads to blindness.
One leads to Elijah.
One leads to Jezebel.
Ancient Israel rejected the Messiah because they desired earthly glory.
Modern religion risks repeating the same sin.
Men still want kingdoms more than crosses.
Crowns more than repentance.
Power more than holiness.
The final test will not merely be political.
It will be worship.
Who shall rule conscience?
Christ?
Or Babylon?
The faithful Elijah message still cries:
“How long halt ye between two opinions?”
— 1 Kings 18:21
Choose now.
Because when Jezebel rules,
Elijah must stand.
And when Babylon rises,
the remnant must not bow.
FINAL WATCHMAN CALL
“Babylon offers protection through compromise.
Christ offers salvation through surrender.”
“Samson lost his eyes before he lost his freedom.”
“Israel was left desolate because they rejected the Messiah.”
“The last generation must not repeat the same mistake.”
“Where is Elijah?”
He must be in us.
Israel intercepts Gaza aid ships in international waters, organisers say
This event carries solemn prophetic weight when viewed through Scripture and the warnings in The Great Controversy and The Desire of Ages by Ellen G. White.

GAZA: TWO PATHS — PHILIP AND THE EUNUCH VS SAMSON AND THE HARLOT
Gaza in Scripture is a place of both evangelism and downfall.
In Acts 8, on the road “which is desert” going down toward Gaza, Philip met the Ethiopian eunuch and preached Christ. Gaza became a place where light entered darkness, where prophecy met fulfillment, and where a soul accepted the Messiah.
But in Judges 16, Samson went to Gaza and followed the harlot. There his spiritual compromise led to blindness—his eyes were put out, and he became a captive.
This contrast is prophetic.
One path leads to Christ and spiritual sight.
The other leads to apostasy, sensual religion, political compromise, and blindness.
Today the world—and especially Jerusalem-centered prophetic expectations—is again standing at Gaza.
ISRAEL, REJECTION OF MESSIAH, AND FALSE HOPE
Christ declared:
“Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” (Matthew 23:38)
Ancient Israel rejected the true Messiah and sought a kingdom of earthly supremacy rather than spiritual repentance. Ellen White repeatedly warns that the same desire for temporal dominion opens the door for deception.
In The Great Controversy, she shows that many expect a false peace, a temporal millennium, and political restoration instead of the kingdom of Christ established through repentance and righteousness.
This is dangerous because:
those who rejected Christ for not fitting their political expectations are most vulnerable to receiving one who promises earthly glory.
Jesus warned:
“I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” (John 5:43)
This is deeply connected with the final confederacy of church and state.
REVELATION 17: THE WHORE UPON MANY WATERS
The Great Controversy reveals that apostate religion seeks political power.
Revelation 17 shows the woman (fallen religious power) sitting upon many waters:
“The waters… are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.”
Religion controlling civil power.
This was papal Rome in the Dark Ages.
This was the spirit of the Crusades.
This was persecution “for the glory of God.”
Jesus warned:
“Whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” (John 16:2)
That spirit never died.
It only changes clothes.
ROMANISM, CRUSADES, AND MODERN REPETITION
During the Dark Ages, Rome persecuted dissenters while claiming divine authority.
The Inquisition.
The Crusades.
Forced conscience.
State-backed religion.
Ellen White writes that Protestant America will image the beast when civil power enforces religious demands.
The principle is unchanged:
religious justification + political force = persecution.
When humanitarian aid becomes criminalized, when conscience becomes suspect, when power extends beyond lawful boundaries, prophecy students should watch carefully.
Reuters reports that flotilla organizers said aid ships bound for Gaza were intercepted in international waters near Greece, calling it “piracy,” while Israel’s U.N. envoy said the flotilla was stopped before reaching Israeli-controlled areas.
This reflects not merely geopolitics—but the larger prophetic pattern of power asserting moral legitimacy over force.
COMING EVENTS CAST THEIR SHADOW
The Desire of Ages says:
“Coming events cast their shadow before.”
We are seeing:
- international conflict expanding
- conscience and humanitarian action criminalized
- nationalism rising
- kings and religious symbolism returning
- false peace promises increasing
- church-state admiration reviving
- law and liberty colliding
These are shadows before the storm.

Gaza is speaking again.
Once Philip preached Christ there and a searching Ethiopian found salvation.
Later Samson walked there in compromise and lost his eyes.
Today Gaza again stands as a prophetic symbol to the world.
As aid flotillas are intercepted, nations accuse nations, and humanitarian mercy is entangled with military power, Heaven asks: Which Gaza are we choosing?
Will we choose Philip’s road of truth and repentance?
Or Samson’s road of compromise and blindness?
Ancient Israel rejected Christ because they wanted political deliverance more than spiritual transformation.
They looked for crowns, not crosses.
They wanted Rome overthrown, not sin removed.
Christ wept and said:
“Your house is left unto you desolate.”
History now approaches its final repetition.
Revelation 17 shows a woman riding political power—religion controlling nations.
This is not merely ancient Rome.
It is the final union of apostate religion and civil force.
The same spirit that burned reformers in the Dark Ages will rise again under new language: security, unity, morality, and peace.
Many will kill thinking they serve God.
This is the warning of Christ.
This is the warning of Ellen White.
This is the warning of prophecy.
The issue is not Gaza alone.
The issue is worship.
The issue is conscience.
The issue is whether men will follow the Lamb—or the beast.
When powers claim moral authority while extending force across nations and seas, prophecy students must not sleep.
Coming events cast their shadow before.
Watch.
Pray.
Stand.
Babylon promises peace through power.
Christ offers peace through surrender.
Choose carefully.
Because blindness comes before chains.
And the final crisis is nearer than many suppose.
“Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
(Revelation 14:12)
